Pumpkins from Fresh For All
Thanks to Fresh For All, the Wellington Storehouse Foodbank was able to go and get 100 pumpkins from one of our contributors in Ameliasburgh township. We spent most of Thursday cooking them down and freezing them so we can make pumpkin loavess with our clients in a few weeks. Thank you to all the volunteers who came out and helped. Missing from the picture is Bonnie Lewis who is camera shy but such an amazing volunteer to the food bank.
Smart Car
The charity sale of a Smart Car recently sold for $5000 to benefit The Storehouse Foodbank. Thank you Steve Spicer for your support of our community!
Christmas Angels: Sponsor a Child
The deadline has passed this year for sponsoring a child for a Christmas gift.
However, the Holiday Season is a time of great need in our community. Please consider making a donation this Christmas to The Storehouse Foodbank. Please call Linda at 613-399-1450 or email downeylinda45@gmail.com for more details.
Christmas Angel Trees were hosted at the Wellington Legion and Cascades Pub and Grill in Consecon.
Community supporters took angels off the tree where it had child’s first name, sex and gift idea on the angel.
The gifts had to be returned by Friday, Dec. 11 so everything could be organized and ready to go for pick-ups and deliveries on December 16, please and thank you.
Food to Share Cook-a-thon
Thank you to Glen Wallis and all the volunteers that came out today to help make stuffed peppers, chili, butternut squash soup, carrot soup and apple crumble for our food bank clients. It was great meeting all of you and working with you today. Thank you to the farmers and gardeners who donated the produce and to everyone who took the time to go and pick the produce. It is so nice to be able to offer healthy choices to our clients, thanks to the generosity of all who donated either their time, ingredients or supplies. Thank you for helping us, help others in our community. Looking forward to working with you again in the coming weeks.
