This week’s After the Bell bags contained these extra fruit and vegetables – apple, orange, banana, cherry tomatoes, a yogurt tube, cheese string which was given to families in need yesterday. The food packs allows young people to take home food to fill the gaps when other food supports – like the school breakfast or lunch programs are not available. Food Banks Canada gave us 8 weeks worth of food packs with the understanding that many kids don’t have school-based food program support during the summer. After the Bell is generously supported by fresh food sponsor Subway Canada. Lead partner Loblaw, Supporters – Kellogg Canada, Nestle, McCormick Canada and Mondelez and Sponsors CIBC, Hershey Canada, Quaker, The Global Foodbanking Network, West Rock, Sysco. Food Partners are Clover Leaf Seafoods, Dare Foods Ltd., Kellogg Canada, MadeGood Foods Canada, Mondelez International Inc., Organic Meadow, Ozery Family Bakery, Pepsi Co and Wowbutter Foods. Last Friday’s meals- The Storehouse has partnered with
Alchemy Artists Residency for a new engagement project called Table Settings – which brings simple, healthy and delicious suppers to Hillier, Prince Edward County farm and vineyard workers after a long day in the fields. Prepared by a volunteer kitchen brigade of artists/chefs/makers, these meals are offered with thanks and recognition of hard work during a time of COVID related social distance and physical isolation. Menus are based on the availability of seasonal ingredients purchased from local farmers and makers. Thank you to Closson Chase Vineyard for their support in donating the use of their kitchen. Thank you to Stanners Vineyard for all their help with this project. Table Settings is supported by funds from Prince Edward County Community Foundation. We thank the Community Foundation for their support in helping us fight the issues we face with Covid-19 in Prince Edward County.
