Thank you to everyone who dropped off their bounty from their gardens today for our clients- The Community Garden, Barb Cocklin, Blue Wheelbarrow Farm, Hudson Merritt and some anonymous donors, each client received a grocery bag full of produce and fruit today, corn on the cob was from Lakeshore Farms. Thank you everyone for making a difference to others in our communities!
Today’s After the Bell bags contained these extra fruit and vegetables – apple, orange, banana, blueberries and cherry tomatoes. We also added a yogurt tube, cheese string and popcorn which was given to families in need. The food packs allows young people to take home food to fill the gaps when other food supports – like the school breakfast or lunch programs are not available. Food Banks Canada gave us 8 weeks worth of food packs with the understanding that many kids don’t have school-based food program support during the summer.
