Thank you to all the Food to Share volunteers for making Hamburger soup for the seniors today. Thank you Christine Gillespie for doing all the deliveries. Thank you everyone for making a difference to others during these difficult times.

            The Storehouse has partnered with Alchemy Artists Residency for a project called Table Settings – Week seven of Table Settings draws to a sunny close. The simplicity of the meal meant an afternoon in the kitchen thinking about the similarities between a great studio day and its kitchen counterpart. Good light, inspiring ingredients, considering process and the comfort of repetition when making dinner for 36 yesterday. Good for the kitchen brigade and the vineyard and farm folks we cook for. Thank you to Closson Chase Vineyard for their support in donating the use of their kitchen. Table Settings is supported by funds from The County Foundation. We thank The County Foundation for their support in helping us fight the issues we face with Covid-19 in Prince Edward County.

   Thank you so much Chef Michael Hoy for all your hard work in making 50 Meals yesterday and for delivering them to the seniors- Roast Peameal with Scalloped Potatoes & Fall Vegetables. Thank you to the Wellington Legion for allowing Michael use of the kitchen. Thank you to Pierson’s Foodland staff for all their hard work in making up all the fruit cups. These meals are part of the Good Food Access Fund, we are grateful to the Government of Canada and Community Food Centres Canada for providing essential funding to help us offer emergency food relief in our community.    Thank you to everyone who dropped off their bounty from their gardens today for our clients- The Community Garden, Barb Cocklin, Blue Wheelbarrow Farm, Hudson Merritt and some anonymous donors, each client received a grocery bag full of produce and fruit today, corn on the cob was from Lakeshore Farms. Thank you everyone for making a difference to others in our communities!

  Today’s After the Bell bags contained these extra fruit and vegetables – apple, orange, banana, blueberries and cherry tomatoes. We also added a yogurt tube, cheese string and popcorn which was given to families in need. The food packs allows young people to take home food to fill the gaps when other food supports – like the school breakfast or lunch programs are not available. Food Banks Canada gave us 8 weeks worth of food packs with the understanding that many kids don’t have school-based food program support during the summer.
