  This is what our clients will receive in their vegetable box for tomorrow. Potatoes, onions, cucumber, green onions, radishes, tomatoes, celery, peppers, mushrooms, asparagus, carrots and sweet potatoes. We purchased the produce this week from Community Development Council Quinte the Good Food Box, except for the asparagus which we thank Doug Schofield for donating it. These fresh produce boxes are part of the Good Food Access Fund, we are grateful to the Government of Canada and Community Food Centres Canada for providing essential funding to help us offer emergency food relief in our community.    Today’s After the Bell bags contain these extra fruit and vegetables, dairy products and popcorn and was given to families in need. The food packs allows young people to take home food to fill the gaps when other food supports – like the school breakfast or lunch programs are not available. Food Banks Canada gave us 8 weeks worth of food packs with the understanding that many kids don’t have school-based food program support during the summer. After the Bell is generously supported by fresh food sponsor Subway Canada.   Thank you so much Chef Michael Hoy for all your hard work in making 50 BBQ Chicken with potatoes and coleslaw meals and also for delivering all the meals to the seniors today.   If anyone out there has any extra yarn they aren’t using please donate to the foodbank, we have lots of knitters that are busy making hats, mittens, scarves, slippers, baby blankets and other items for our clients for the winter months. We would appreciate your help! Please drop off at the foodbank, 305 Niles Street, at the Wellington Pentecostal Church on Wednesday’s between 9-3 or you can leave them in one of our bins on Main Street at Rockn Rogers Restaurant the bin is right inside their door, Wellington Home Hardware or Pierson’s Foodland.
